Tina Turner Says She Didn’t Know Ike Changed Her Name

Tina Turner said in a recent interview that ex-husband Ike Turner changed her name without her knowledge. 

Turner said, "Ike just came home from the record company. He said, 'Here's the record.' And I said, 'Who's Tina?' He said, 'You're Tina!' And I said, 'Tina? Tina Turner?' It was really hard to say in the beginning. That is when he took over the money, the name, the whole control." 

She also said he abused her “because he depended on me. He didn't like that he had had to depend on me." 

Turner divorced Ike in 1976 and is now happily married to her new husband Erwin Bach.
