Smith started at #WAFF-48NBC as a secretary and camera operator in 1987. Over the following 8 years, was promoted to the main anchorwoman position for WAFF'S 5pm and 10pm newscasts. Her move to main anchor made her the second African-American woman to ever anchor a prime time newscast in the #Huntsville market.
