Rudolph Isley Sues Brother Ron Over Group Trademark

Rudolph Isley said his brother Ronald has unfairly tried to lock up exclusive rights to a name that's supposed to be jointly owned. Rudolph Isley is seeking his "rightful 50% share of all results and proceeds" Ronald has earned since registering the trademark

According to Rolling Stone, the lawsuit was filed on Monday (March 20) and is seeking a judicial confirmation that The Isley Brothers trademark is “jointly owned” by the siblings. Rudolph also claimed he’s “unaware of the degree to which Ronald exploited the Mark” and wants the judge to order Ronald to “account for and pay” a 50 percent share that Rudolph claimed he’s owed for any proceeds derived from said trademark.

The Isley Brothers are a family musical group originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, that began as a vocal trio consisting of brothers O'Kelly "Kelly" Isley Jr., Rudolph Isley and Ronald Isley in the 1950s.With a career spanning over six decades, the group has enjoyed one of the "longest, most influential, and most diverse careers in popular music".

The Isley Brothers were inducted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. In 1997, they were inducted into Hollywood's Rockwalk, and in 2003 they were inducted to the Vocal Group Hall of Fame
