Maria Taylor Is Leaving ESPN After Rachel Nichols' Remarks About Race Went Public

ESPN host Maria Taylor is leaving the sports network just weeks after remarks by colleague Rachel Nichols suggesting that Taylor was promoted because she is black became public.

Taylor and ESPN announced the departure in a statement yesterday (Wednesday), saying "that after much discussion, an agreement on a contract extension could not be reached."

Her final appearance for the network was Tuesday night's NBA Finals telecast.

Taylor is believed to have signed with NBC Sports and is reportedly headed to Tokyo to cover the Olympics.
