Man Claims His Amazon Alexa Called Him A "S***head" After Cancelling Amazon Prime Subscription

A man (in Wales) said his Amazon Alexa device called him a “s***head” the day after cancelling his Amazon Prime account.

The man asked his device to play music and Alexa responded, “Sure, here’s your playlist s***head on Amazon music. Sorry something went wrong.” The man called technical support, but they had never heard of anything like that before. 

He said employees apologized and eventually offered him a $250 gift card and a free Prime subscription. It’s possible to get Alexa to make rude comments, but the man claimed he didn’t set up the device to swear at him. 

However a spokesperson for Amazon said Alexa wouldn’t respond in that way without some customization from the user.
