Geto Boy’s Scarface, Brad Jordan, ran for city council in Houston, Texas and came close to winning.
Last week, Jordan was in a runoff election to represent District D, which reportedly has more than 200,000 residents and stretches into the south and southeast sides of Houston.
At Saturday’s run-off, former educator Carolyn Evans-Shabazz out-polled Jordanfor the seat held by Dwight Boykins, who opted not to seek re-election to pursue an unsuccessful mayoral bid.
Jordan said that he wanted to be proactive in making a change to the chronic poverty and crime that afflicts his neighborhood.
He said, “You can sit back and point out the problems or you can address them and bring solutions to the table.”
