Fisk University Is The 1st HBCU Program To Compete At The NCAA Gymnastics Level!

Fisk University is the first HBCU to have an intercollegiate women's gymnastics team.


Fisk University, The Nashville, Tennessee HBCU school, started the program last spring. The head coach and athletic director at Fisk, Corrine Tarver, was the first Black gymnast to win an NCAA all around championship. She coaches a 16-member team largely freshmen.



The team will compete against other collegiate teams this season from across the country, including teams from George Washington University, Towson University and the University of Michigan.


Gymnast Morgan Price scored a 9.9 on vault in the team's first NCAA gymnastics competition.

  • Friday, January 13: at University of Michigan

  • Monday, January 16: at University of Georgia

  • Friday, January 20: USA Classic Invitational in Lebanon, TN

  • Sunday, January 29: at Ball State University

  • Friday, February 3: at Rutgers University

  • Friday, February 10: at Southeast Missouri State University
