Dr. Dre's Wife is Challenging Prenup in $1 Billion Divorce
Dr. Dre’s wife Nicole Young is challenging the couple’s prenup amid their $1 billion divorce, saying her husband previously admitted she was “coerced.”Nicole, who initiated the divorce in June, filed paperwork yesterday asking the court to set a separate trial so she can challenge the “validity and enforceability” of the premarital agreement.
The filing stated, “His net worth is estimated to be in the ballpark of $1 billion dollars, which was largely earned during the parties’ approximate 24 year marriage.”The paperwork says Dre “demanded” that Nicole sign the prenup before they got married in May 1996, around the same time he parted ways with Death Row Records.
The filing states,“Dre placed undue pressure upon Nicole to sign the agreementin order to get married, leaving her no choice but to do so. She reluctantly signed it. Around two to three years after they were married, Dre tore up the parties’ premarital agreements in Nicole’s presence.”
Dre disposed of the documents while “acknowledging he knew Nicole had signed them as a result of duress, coercion and undue influence and knew the terms of the agreement were patently unconscionable.”
