Aretha Franklin Died With $1 Million In Uncashed Checks

Writer: Ed GainesEd Gaines

Aretha Franklin had almost of $1 million in uncashed checks in her possession at the time of her death last year.

The checks were found during an inventory of her things at her home. The checks were from Sound Exchange, Screen Writers Guild, Springtime Publishing, EMI, BMI, Carlin Music and Feel Good Films.

The findings add a new twist to the battle over the Queen of Soul’s estate. At first it was believed Aretha didn’t have a will but three handwritten wills -- two from 2010 and one from 2014 -- were recently found in her house.
